Pathways Overview

At South West Spirit Junior Rugby Club, we are committed to fostering the growth of representative players at regional and state levels.

Since our clubs inception in 2018, several boys and girls have gone on to compete at regional and state levels.

Discover the next level of competition available below. For more details, visit Rugby WA’s website.

  • Players aged 12 and under can join their local junior rugby clubs. Affiliated clubs include Albany, Australind, Bunbury, Busselton, Esperance and the Margaret River.

  • The South West Spirit Rugby Club is comprised of players who transition from grassroots junior rugby teams in the region.

This partnership aims to sustain the provision of the sport for boy and girl players aged 13 and above, providing a pathway to compete in the Perth Metro competition.

  • The Rugby WA player pathway begins with selection in regional teams: North, Central, and South.

Rugby WA State Championships, held annually, feature U15 and U16 for the boys and U15 and U17 for the girls. The State Championships are held during school holidays each year.

Selection for these teams depends on performances in club or school games, with preparation in May and June.

More details on regionals can be found here.

  • Players will be selected for the WA U16s side based on their performances in club/school fixtures combined with their performances at the WA State Championships.

The team’s preparation period commences after the WA State Titles in early August.
