Players aged 12 and under can join their local junior rugby clubs. Affiliated clubs include Albany, Australind, Bunbury, Busselton, Esperance and the Margaret River.

The South West Spirit Rugby Club is comprised of players who transition from grassroots junior rugby teams in the region.

This partnership aims to sustain the provision of the sport for boy and girl players aged 13 and above, providing a pathway to compete in the Perth Metro competition.

RugbyWA is dedicated to supporting homegrown talent in their progression from local-grassroots rugby to the professional game.

RugbyWA's Emerging Players Program allows participants to learn from expert staff and professionals, and engage with their peers from throughout the rugby ecosystem.

Several South West Spirit players have successfully participated in this program.

RugbyWA offers several programs to support the development of homegrown talent, including the annual RugbyWA State Championships.

The first step in the player pathway is selection for the North, Central, and South region representative teams, with championships held for U15 and U16 boys and U16 and U18 girls.

These events take place during the school holidays each year, and selection is based on performances with club or school teams. Preparation for these teams occurs in May and June.

Several South West Spirit players have successfully gone on as representative players in the WA State Championships.

Squads are selected to represent Western Australia, RugbyWA and the Western Force based on their performances in club fixtures in local competition.

Players are selected to compete in various competitions, including the Super Rugby Men's U16 & U19 National Rugby Championship.
